The return of the SKUD

After four months in sunny and beautiful Florida, Team Eagle's SKUD 18 returns home. With the boat readily accessible, we will begin implementing many changes and catching up on some boat maintenance.

My parents, Mike and Nancy, picked the boat up several days ago in St. Petersburg. They have made their way to North Carolina to visit relatives and are expected to arrive home with the boat on Sunday.

The rest of April will be spent working on the tilting seats. We have a formal US Sailing Team practice in May with coach Betsy Alison, in Newport Island. It's our hope to have a working prototype of the seating system by then, but the design has been a bigger challenge than anticipated.

Once we complete the changes to the boat and catch up on boat maintenance, we'll be back on the water training in full swing.

Selected by US Sailing as one of the three leading teams to campaign in the two-person sailing event in the 2008 Paralympic Games in Beijing, Team Eagle’s goal is to bring home a medal for the US. While competing in the two-person sailing event, we will represent our country, sponsors and supporters with sportsmanship, honor and skill.
